How is this different than Life Coaching?
Doug began a successful Life Coaching practice more than 10 years ago. Over the years he discovered that his experience as a project manager blended well with his experience as a Life Coach and so he geared his practice into a new direction. Project Coaching differs from Life Coaching only in that there is a stronger focus on moving forward with specific goals in mind. Like Life Coaching, some of the session time might be about “beingness” not simply “doingness” but the focus keeps coming back to completing to-do items and meeting milestones.

What happens in a typical Coaching session?
All sessions are uniquely tailored to a client’s particular needs, and incorporate their own philosophical viewpoint.
The coaching process begins with a 1 to 2 hour "intake" session, in which Doug and the client(s) design the coaching relationship. The first part of this session is an opportunity to define the project’s goals, priorities, mission and strategy. The second part is to co-create a project plan with key milestones and target dates.
You will then begin weekly check-ins (usually 30 minutes) to assure your momentum and focus by looking at your progress, brainstorming on action steps, setting weekly goals, and reconnecting to the inspiration that got you to dream up the project in the first place.

How long does it take?
As long as it takes to finish the project or as long as you feel the project needs a coach. It is suggested that you make a minimum three-month commitment, but this depends on the nature of the project.

I have supportive friends, why do I need coaching?
If you are being as productive as you want to be then you don't need coaching; but some of the most talented and prolific people utilize coaching. The Oprahs of the world are as productive as they are because they recognize that they cannot reach their goals without support.

How do I know that you won't steal my idea?
Doug signs a non-disclosure agreement with you. You may share as much or as little about the content of your project as you deem important (often the details of the project are not essential for creating a project plan). Doug does not expect to be credited as a collaborator on your project.

There are several of us working on this project; can we be coached as a group?
Yes, you may. All team members must start by having one private session (this allows a more candid understanding of the working dynamics), but the weekly follow-ups should include all team members.

Where are you located?
Doug’s office is located in Manhattan, but sessions are held over the telephone and can have been conducted from all over the world.
